Grand Prince is the hereditary title given to the emperor of Taldor, he who wears the Primogen Crown. The Grand Prince has absolute authority as long as he maintains good relations with the Taldan army. The title is generally passed via primogeniture from the father to the eldest son, although there have been numerous times in Taldor's history when rule was passed to a related family with only a tenuous claim to the throne. This only occurred when there was no direct male heir. The current Grand Prince of Taldor is Stavian III, and since he has only produced one daughter, there is a good chance that his succession will lead to significant upheaval.[1]
