I've been thinking lately about making "blank" year pages for currently redlinked years. They really clutter up Special:Wantedpages and many will remain red until Paizo releases canon referencing them. It would be fairly simple to set YodaBot to creating stub pages for each of these years to get them off the Wanted Pages list and eliminate redlinks from the yearbox at the top of existing years. Does this seem like a productive thing to do, or are we better served leaving them as red links?

I had similar thoughts a few weeks ago when I went through the Special:Wantedpages. At the time, I told myself that having a BUNCH of stubs was kind of misleading for people clicking through the years. Plus, I think that there are some pretty big gaps between years that we have info for. I'm wondering if we'd end up with a few hundred (maybe WAY more) stub pages.

I think we'd really only need to create pages that are already on the Wanted Pages list. In most of these cases, they are single years being linked to by up to ten surrounding years on other yearboxes. While there are huge gaps in years in the timeline, most of these years aren't being pointed to by anything, so they won't show up as being wanted.

So you wouldn't put the year navbox? Because as soon as you put that on, you have a new red link.

I think we should leave them as red links, as much as they clutter up the "Wanted pages". I reference this page quite a bit when I am looking for material to work on, because I know that any of these topics need to be written about. If we create filler pages void of actual content, then I no longer know what needs work and what doesn't. Right now I just avoid the years pages on the "Wanted pages".

Ideally, there would be some way for the year-links in the yearbox to NOT count towards the wanted-pages listing. As it stands there might be some REALLY wanted year that 26 different non-year articles, but it gets lost in the list of years that happen to fall within 5 years of an interesting period. Is there any wiki-magic that we can apply towards said yearbox?

I just noticed that the Wanted Pages page now has an "Exclude titles" field. In order to get rid of all the year links, just type "AR" in that field and press go. Voila! No more red yearbox links. Woohoo! So did we do that, or was that a Wikia Admin addition? To whoever did it, thank you!
