A black pudding is a subterranean scavenger common throughout the Darklands. A gigantic, formless, black blob of acidic protoplasm, it easily dissolves organic matter on touch, even away at metal at a somewhat slower rate.[1]

Black pudding in Golarion[]
Sightings of these dreaded oozes are common throughout Golarion. Some known locations include the caverns and tunnels beneath the Varisian city of Kaer Maga,[2] the dungeons below Drelev Keep in the River Kingdoms,[3] in the much deeper Darklands recesses of Sekamina and Orv (especially in the Midnight Mountains),[4][5] but also occasionally above ground in places such as the abandoned elven city of Celwynvian,[6] Kyonin's demon-infested Tanglebriar,[7] the island ruins of Nal-Kashel off the western coast of Cheliax,[8] and in Varisia's Mushfens.[9] Extraplanar locations where black puddings have been spotted include Erebus in Hell,[10] and locations with close connections to the Dark Tapestry.[11]
